Dreams into reality

When was the last time you really challenged yourself to do something? No, I don’t mean study a  little harder for your math exams, or run that extra mile. I mean when was the last time you really challenged yourself to do something bigger than you?

Ever since I was a little girl I always had slightly delusional dreams of creating something bigger than me. Something that 100 years from now people can still talk about. For the longest time I thought the only was to do that was to somehow “be famous.” I mean, 100 years from now people are going to know who Taylor Swift is, right? But with zero musical talent, no desire to act, and 3 cup sizes shy of Victoria’s Secret model… Pretty sure any sense of the word “fame” is a no-go in my book.

I want to create someTHING  that is legendary, not necessarily myself. Whether that’s a product, a brand, a website… I still haven’t answered all those questions myself.

2013 was a great incredible year. From seeing my YouTube channel grow in popularity, from modeling, to sponsorships with my favorite brands, and landing my dream job in Boston… I really can’t complain. 2013 definitely gave me that sense of guidance that I needed. 2014 holds high expectations in my mind, this is a year of change. There are some epic things to come and it’s going to be amazing.

Tell me, what do you dream of doing? When you’re trying to fall asleep and imaging the perfect life scenarios in your mind… What are they?

I’ve always dreamed of working from home as my own boss/entrepreneur. I do get to work from home with my social media job, which is a dream in and of itself, but it does leave me with less time to be creative. It’s a lot harder to blog and make videos. I hope to someday be able to work only on my blog/videos and my other projects (I have an idea for an app that i really want to pursue) but for now I’m very grateful to have time to do it at all.

I really love your new blog design, by the way.

    Kindness is the best accessory,

Thank you Rebecca! I love the idea of being an entrepreneur as well- it’s truly fascinating. Finding the time to make all those dreams happen seems to be the only problem!

2013 was a great year for me! I got my own apartment and got a promotion at my job which I had for less than a year! I really have my perfect job right now, working in the field I went to college for, Information Science/Technology.

    xx Liz

    Hi Kim,

Usually I tend to think that dreams are like fresh air or a simple glass of water. We need this kind of things to live, to enjoy a glorious sunny day outside or raindrops softly hitting the window. 2013 was good year with a lot of transitions… Graduated in Communication and Journalism, got accepted in a model agency, played with my band all over the country, been working with cool brands and found out that this journey called “life” is just in front of my eyes ready to be discovered. Here in Portugal entering the labour market is harder than I thought while I was in college, specially for young people like us (20’s), due to the political and economic crisis the country is facing right now. But we learn to fall and we learn to stand up as well.

We’re always learning… Everyday is a good day to open your eyes and look around you. As you say we’ve got this whole book of unanswered questions but we should not be afraid of what’s there, in the unknown. Some time ago there was this beloved philosopher who said that this life is like a river and as it flows a path is created. The river will reach the sea and this is how life should be… You don’t need to fight the current, just move and float with it, no hurry. The opportunities will come. May take some time, but they will.

For 2014 I wish to continue on the path that I am right now, with my family and loved ones around, my job, my band and, last but no the least, the world. With ‘scorching’ heat or thunderstorms, different cultures and smells. Maybe it leads me to something bigger, unboxed. And for you I wish you all the best and remember to never forget your cutie smile under your pillow because there’s always someone who needs it more than you think 🙂

Thank you for such a lovely comment, I really enjoyed reading it! I loved your analogy with the river. Congrats to all your success in 2013… I can’t wait to hear what 2014 brings you!
